Conference Venue and Location

Location of the Blue Mountains

The workshop will be held in the York Fairmont Resort in Leura, NSW, Australia (map).

The workshop venue is located in the Blue Mountains region, situated in a World Heritage area close to Sydney. The Blue Mountains cover an area of around 1436 square kilometres that is famous for bushwalking, spectacular landscapes, wildlife, nice little towns, and its rainforest. Surrounding areas also provide a vast array of tourist attractions and places of interest. Several days are required to experience the whole region!

Katoomba is the principal township in the World Heritage Blue Mountains. It is also a place where history, the arts, breath-taking natural scenery and cafe culture merge, making it a fascinating place to explore at a leisurely pace.

How to get there

We will try to organise a coach from Sydney Airport to the conference venue on Sunday, September 21. Stay tuned for further information.

Those who wish to travel individually may be interested in the following links:

By Car

The Blue Mountains are located approx. 120km West of Sydney and can be reached in roughly 90-120 minutes by car (depending on traffic conditions). From the city, follow the signs to Parramatta. The M4 Motorway starts at Strathfield and takes you through to Lapstone in the Blue Mountains. A toll applies at the Sydney end of the M4.

By Train

Take the rail link from Sydney Airport to the Central Railway Station, then the Central to Lithgow train. Trains generally run once every hour and more frequently during peak commuter times. It takes approx. 2 hours to travel from Sydney Central to Leura. Route from Leura Train Station to the Resort.

By Coach

Several coach companies offer day trips to the Blue Mountains. Coaches generally leave from Circular Quay in Sydney.
